Montville, NJ -- The Leonidas Foundation received a $5,000 grant from The UPS Foundation, which drives global corporate citizenship and philanthropic programs for UPS (NYSE:UPS).
With this grant from UPS, the Foundation will have a substantial influx of resources to expand our impact to more needy families and young women and men yearning for the opportunity to learn leadership and entrepreneurship skills.
The Leonidas Foundation directly impacts the lives of 2,000 people annually across a wide demographic range through its diversified programs and efforts. These charitable endeavors include donating backpacks to needy school children at the beginning of the school year, food to hungry families, toys to children who would not otherwise have them during the holidays, and sending orphans to an annual theme park trip. The Foundation’s commitment to funding interactive educational services is embodied in our growing Leadership and Entrepreneurship business education course, known as the L.E.O. Program. L.E.O. provides forty-two young men and women annually an unparalleled academic opportunity to prepare them to be the leaders of tomorrow.
“It is with tremendous gratitude that we accept the continued support of the UPS Foundation” remarked Leonidas Foundation President Matthew Perricone. “With this generous contribution from UPS, we are able to expand and grow our mission to reach out to those in need and seeking opportunity in memory of Leo.”
Established in 1951 and based in Atlanta, Ga., The UPS Foundation identifies specific areas where its backing clearly impacts social issues. In support of this strategic approach, The UPS Foundation has identified the following focus areas for giving: volunteerism, diversity, community safety and the environment.
In 2016, UPS and its employees, active and retired, invested more than $116.6 million in charitable giving around the world. The UPS Foundation can be found on the web at UPS.com/foundation. To get UPS news direct, visit pressroom.ups.com/RSS.
